Youngsters shine as Spurs are hit for six by Pilgrims

HERE are the player ratings of Herald Sport's Argyle reporter Chris Errington from the Pilgrims’ 6-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur under-21s in the Vertu Trophy at Home Park.

Conor Hazard 6 - This was his first game he suffered knee ligament injury playing for Northern Ireland against Denmark in Copenhagen on June 7. Hazard made a good early save from Yusuf Akhamrich, and did so again at the start of the second period but he would have been disappointed with Tottenham's first goal.

Brendan Wiredu 6 - Had a very comfortable first half run-out playing on the right of Argyle’s central defensive trio, with Tottenham rarely causing any attacking threat, before he was replaced at the interval.

Mathias Ross 7 - This was a good step forward for the Danish defender in terms of building up his match fitness levels as he completed the full 90 minutes for the first time in his fifth game for Argyle. He also scored the opening with a powerful downward header after a corner taken by Tegan Finn.

Brendan Galloway 6 - This was the Zimbabwe international defender's first start for the Pilgrims since the 1-0 home League One win against Blackpool on August 23. He was often up against Tottenham's best attacking threat, the speedy Yusuf Akhamrich, who caused him a few problems.
