Crutchley & Trevaskis make the most of a hectic week of action

Fiona was even busier as she managed to fit in two mixed matches as well. First was against fellow Plympton teammates Alison Miles and Lyn Helliwell in a very close match, which Nicky and Fiona took 6-3, 6-3, 6-2. The second match, against Sandra O'Sullivan and Luisa Warring, started with a very close set which Nicky and Fiona just managed to win. With more lets on serve than anyone could remember and deuces - it was the consistency of Nicky and Fiona that made all the difference and they took the other sets, and the match, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

The third match was also against a Plympton pair, and after a flying start for Nicky and Fiona, they took the lead against Helen Wright and Suzanne Sykes, who then fought back to take it into a tiebreak but couldn’t win it. The momentum stayed with Nicky and Fiona as they went on to win the match 6-5, 6-2, 6-4.

When Sarah Blain and Pam Ellis took on Karen Robinson and sub Helen Lucas in Ladies B, it was a match with three evenly contested sets in which Pam and Sarah managed to win the crucial points after long deuce games and win 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. Sarah and Pam added to that win by then beating Libby Allman and Debbie Theophilus, 6-1, 6-5, 5-6.
