Guess The Year: When the city was getting excited about hosting the television show ‘It's A Knockout'

THE Herald wrote: “Plymouth Hoe will take on the atmosphere of a cup tie tomorrow when the city competes with Torbay in the BBC TV show ‘It's A Knockout’.

“Preparations are being made for a crowd of thousands. Plymouth Entertainments manager, Frank Bottom, is optimistic that the city’s team of 20 youngsters will win and qualify for a second-round contest in Belgium.”

Mr Bottom, with no lack of ambition, declared: “The ultimate aim is the final on Eurovision in Switzerland.”
