VIEWS ARE BEING SOUGHT ON THE PROPOSED PLANS
RENEWED plans are being shared for a £2bn green aviation fuel plant on Teesside as bosses confirm a proposed move to a larger site.
The Lighthouse Green Fuels Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility would be built at the former INEOS Nitriles site at Seal Sands.
The project is being developed by LGF Projects Limited, owned by the Saudi-based Alfa-nar Group and could create up to 600 local jobs.
It is set to be the first commercial-scale SAF facility of its kind in the UK.
A consultation on the project runs until January 13 prior to a final planning application, targeted for submission to the Planning Inspectorate in summer 2026.
It will be subject to the Development Consent Order planning process with a final decision made by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
The new, larger site sits just 500 metres from the previously earmarked Billingham location at the former Air Products site.
