PPP eyed as CBRT faces loan deadline

With the World Bank loan for the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) set to expire next year, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is now gearing up to implement the remaining phases of the project through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon made the announcement during his visit to the Cebu Provincial Capitol on Thursday, May 8, 2025, where he met with Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Dizon confirmed that the shift to a PPP model is being considered due to the anticipated delays in completing the entire CBRT project before the loan expires.
