'Cloudy' during Walk With Jesus

Cloudy skies with sunny breaks are expected during the Walk with Jesus on January 8, the solemn opening salvo of the Sinulog, in honor of Señor Santo Niño de Cebu.

A seven-day localized weather forecast prepared by the City's meteorologist, Engineer Oscar Tabada, has been issued to guide devotees, organizers, and local authorities throughout the week-long celebration.

The Fiesta Señor, deeply rooted in Cebuano faith and history, commemorates the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines in 1521 when Ferdinand Magellan gifted the image of the Santo Niño to Queen Juana.

Since then, devotion to the Holy Child has grown into a vibrant expression of prayer, outreach, and festivity, culminating annually in the Sinulog Festival.

Anchored at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, the celebration blends solemn liturgy with community participation, making it the spiritual heart of Cebu's identity.
