Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano has requested the City Council to amend the market code to make it more competitive with those of Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City, while also ensuring that fees remain reasonable.

Ouano wants Mandaue market code amended

This move comes after public market vendors, particularly fruit vendors, appealed to the city government during a dialogue to impose a moratorium on product fees.

Ouano explained that the city’s market code was enacted in 2011 but was never implemented. It is only now that the market code is being enforced, particularly the additional fees on vendors’ products.

This has raised concerns among vendors, especially those selling fruits, due to the lack of customers on the second floor of the market. As a result, it was agreed that a moratorium on the collection of these fees will be implemented.

No genuine leaders today, only politicians

The tragedy of our nation today is that we have no authentic leaders. We only have dirty, traditional politicians. There’s no moral difference between the incompetent incumbent president and the overly-ambitious vice president. Cebu is being led by incompetents who look honest and a few competent ones who smell bad with regards to integrity. The only reason why the disgruntled military isn’t intervening to oust BBM is the more dangerous option of having a more scheming vice president and her controversial brothers and devious old father.
