No genuine leaders today, only politicians

The tragedy of our nation today is that we have no authentic leaders. We only have dirty, traditional politicians. There’s no moral difference between the incompetent incumbent president and the overly-ambitious vice president. Cebu is being led by incompetents who look honest and a few competent ones who smell bad with regards to integrity. The only reason why the disgruntled military isn’t intervening to oust BBM is the more dangerous option of having a more scheming vice president and her controversial brothers and devious old father.

We are at a crucial point in Philippine history when the country needs a visionary leader in the mold of Lee Kuan Yew, Mahathir Mohammad, Mahatma Gandhi, or Nelson Mandela. Cebu needs a team of young, pure but competent leaders in the mold of Pasig's Vico Sotto and Joy Belmonte of Quezon City. Cebuanos should be represented in Congress by genuine leaders like Leandro Leviste of Batangas and Kaka Bag-ao of Dinagat Island.

We all know the difference between a genuine leader and a traditional politician. A genuine leader practices servant leadership. He comes to serve, not be served. A true leader is driven and inspired by a clear vision, empowered by integrity, strengthened by commitment, proven by excellence. His vision is his guide. His excellence is characterized by the 4 E's in the word Excellence: effective, efficient, ethical, and empowering other public servants by enabling them with skills, mentoring, counseling, and coaching.
