Omar, Mehbooba clash over Tulbul Barrage revival

A political war of words has erupted between Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti over the revival of the long-stalled Tulbul Navigation Barrage project on Wullar Lake, in the backdrop of the temporary suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
The controversy began after Omar Abdullah, in a post on X, questioned whether work on the Tulbul Navigation Barrage—abandoned in the 1980s due to objections from Pakistan under the IWT—could now resume. "The Wular lake in North Kashmir... The civil works you see in the video is the Tulbul Navigation Barrage... Now that the IWT has been 'temporarily suspended' I wonder if we will be able to resume the project," he posted.
