Ghevar is believed to have originated in the royal kitchens of Rajasthan centuries ago. Traditionally prepared during the Shravan month (July-August), Ghevar is closely associated with the festival of Teej, which celebrates the reunion of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. On this day, married women fast for the well-being of their husbands and receive gifts—often including a beautifully packed Ghevar—from their parental homes.
