I READ, with interest, Nigel Waller's letter regarding his objection to the stopping-up of the footway adjacent to the southern access to the Penzance dry dock and would like to clarify a few points for both him and any concerned readers.

The application to stop up a small section of highway will not remove the footpath; in fact it is intended to construct a new footway in association with some carriageway realignment and tie in with Cornwall Council's current works to the dock area in association with the new freight delivery area. It is indeed unfortunate that due to a clerical error at Penzance Library the notice and site plan were not displayed for the required 28 days and will therefore be readvertised and displayed for a further 28
