Campbell wants Buds to become icons

- BY FRASER WILSON

CAMPBELL MONEY will never forget soaking in the euphoria on an open-top bus through the rain-lashed streets of Paisley after winning silverware with St Mirren.

It's 38 years since that famous Scottish Cup Final victory over Dundee United but Money remembers it like yesterday.

Legend status befell Alex Smith and his players on that heroic Hampden afternoon.

And the goalkeeper, who made 391 appearances in his 18 years at the club, insists the exact same fate lies in store for Stephen Robinson and his players if they can upset the odds this afternoon.

Money reckons his old side have a huge chance to shock Celtic at Hampden.

And if they can pull it off, the 65-year-old knows they will forever be held as Buddies heroes. Money told MailSport: “Absolutely, it's a wonderful opportunity for them. I hope they enjoy the experience as much as we all did back in 1987.

“But the one way to really enjoy it is to bring the cup back to Paisley.
