Greece win reminded Adams of emotional debut on another big night for Scotland

- FRASER WILSON

THE date was the same. The competition was the same.

The venue was the same.

The outcome was the same.

And for Che Adams the sensation was almost identical.

The Scotland striker might have been born and brought up on the wrong side of Hadrian's Wall to have heard the Hampden Roar before Steve Clarke called on his services.

But he will never forget his first taste of Tartan Army bedlam in Mount Florida on October 9, 2021 - when an injury-time Scott McTominay strike saw off Israel in a five-goal thriller and set the national stadium alight.

Exactly four years on and the striker admits an electrifying sense of deja vu struck as Scotland fought back for the most unlikely of late victories over Greece on Thursday night.

Just like 2021, it keeps Clarke's troops nestled in behind Denmark with three games to go with the Danes in Glasgow on the closing match day.

The parallels all seem a bit too spooky with Halloween just round the corner.

But if there's one major difference this time round it's that Adams and his team-mates are determined to ensure they finish with a flourish that can see them topple the Danes off top spot and go one better than the class of '21.

Another big push is required in Mount Florida against Belarus this evening to keep that target on track.

And Adams said: "Thursday was a rollercoaster of emotions.

"Going down 1-0 then to bring it back was ultimately the end goal for us - to get the points on the board.
