Tignes in France is hardly a hidden gem, attracting thousands of ski fans from around the globe every winter, but with climate change meaning that the windows for snow-capped mountains and powdery slopes are getting shorter, it's worth having this high-altitude, alpine resort on your radar.

Sitting at more than 2,000m high, the resort in the French Alps is made up of five villages, all of which sit on the doorstep of some gorgeous mountain runs.
