BLUNDERING workmen fitted a new pelican crossing with instructions in Welsh — 86 miles inside the English border.

It was installed in a leafy Berkshire suburb with the Welsh words: “Gwasgwch y botwm, Arhoswch am yr arwydd.”
The unexpected appearance of the Welsh instructions, which roughly translate as “Push button, wait for signal”, have baffled passersby in Reading.
