Labour record sparks age rise poverty fear

MORE than 100,000 people could be flung into poverty as the state pension age is hiked up to 67 in March 2028.

It is not unreasonable to make modest increases to the age at which the pension kicks in when improvements in life expectancy and medical breakthroughs mean people can lead healthier lives for longer.
But it would be shameful for people to be pushed into destitution because of careless and callous implementation.
