Rail station lift out of action for two weeks

PASSENGERS have been advised of essential maintenance to a lift at Stockport station.

The lift to platforms 1 and 2 will be closed for maintenance for two weeks this month.
From Tuesday 6 until Tuesday 20 May, passengers who need step-free access to trains travelling southbound at Stockport are advised to plan their journeys in advance.
A figure of £46,000 is being invested at the station to make step-free access more reliable for passengers.
The work involves replacing the doors to the lift and replacing some of the equipment inside the lift shaft. The lift is around 20 years old, and this work will help to keep it reliable for years to come.
