Hottest day of year as experts predict it may hit 25C in Fort William

SCOTLAND will flirt with the hottest day of the year today with the mercury predicted to maybe hit 25C (77F).

The Met Office is putting its faith in a high of 24C today but concede this could creep up in a few isolated spots sheltered from the hills. The West Highland town of Fort William looks most likely to achieve the new high, bathed in hours of spring sunshine.

Scotland’s warmest day of 2025 so far was recorded at Aboyne, in Aberdeenshire, where 24.4C (75F) was logged on Wednesday, April 30.

As the west of the country sizzles, the east coast will have to get by with a high of 12C (54F) due to the breeze coming in from the North Sea.
