About 4 decades back,there was an IAS officer,who had formed a film society in the district of his posting.Often,he would arrange exhibition of children's films ,particularly award winners,engaging the administration in meticulously organizing such shows.The cinema owners would be armtwisted to provide the theatre free,the Distt education officers, Tehsildars,BDPOs,and CDPOs etc,would arrange the captive audience,and transport it to the theatre on the buses, provided by the district transport officer, gratis.In one such function, the then Chairperson of the Children's film society of India,the wellknown charismatic film actress of the golden era of Indian films, Kamini Kaushal presided and also freely interacted with the children.
Child artists and feature films pertaining to the childhood, have always been the significant component of the glorious film world,particularly its 'Golden Era'. Raj Kapoor had started his film career as a child artist at 11,in 1935,in film 'Inquilab' and it is a coincidence that Nargis was six in 1935 ,when she acted in film Talash-E-Haq, as baby Rani .Madhubala was 9 ,when she acted in film Basant,as baby Mumtaz ,in 1942,Meena kumari at 5, as baby Mahjabeen,acted in film 'Leatherface' in 1939,Geeta
Bali was 12 ,when she acted in'The Cobbler, made in Lahore in 1942,Asha Parekh acted in film'Maa',made by Bimal Roy in 1952,at 10.In 1950 ,baby Tabassum,then 6 , gave extraordinary performance in a great indian film 'Jogan', made legendary,director,lyricist,dialogue writer and producer,Kidar Sharma.In the year 1954,film 'Jagriti',revolving around the life of children,turned out to be a blockbuster.Its patriotic songs,like,"Aaoo bacho tumhen dikhayen jhaki
