'n Mens sou dink dat goeie gehoor 'n voorvereiste is om 'n beroep soos dié van professionele jagter te beoefen, maar André Botes bewys die teendeel.

André is doof gebore en het sy skoolloopbaan aan die Transoranje Skool vir Dowes voltooi. Sy liefde vir jag het reeds in 1992 begin.
"My stiefpa het 'n plaas in Botswana gehad waar ek in die skoolvakansies gewerk het en so in die veld grootgeword het. 'n Familievriend het my ook die kans gegee om te jag. In 2017 het ek 'n kursus vir leerling-professionele jagter in Mookgophong voltooi," vertel hy.
Nog 'n familievriend het hom verder opgelei en die nodige kennis van die jagbedryf oorgedra - van die gebruik van strikke en karkasverwerking tot praktiese veldwerk.
