Groups can get cooking on funding for healthy eating

Organisations in Renfrewshire have until next week to apply for funding to deliver sessions that focus on food education and boost cooking skills.

- Jack Thomson, Local Democracy Reporter

Sums of up to £1,000 are up for grabs through the area’s community food education small grants fund which opened earlier this month and closes in early February.

The idea behind the initiative is to promote healthy eating habits through improved food literacy and practical culinary skills in line with the Scottish Government's good food nation plan and local health priorities.

An update on the scheme has been included in a report to the Fairer Renfrewshire subcommittee-a task force that focuses support for those affected by poverty and the current economic environment-ahead of its meeting tomorrow.
