MAGPIES BOSS OFFERED NO EXCUSES AFTER 4-0 LOSS TO KAISERSLAUTERN
MARTIN Paterson gave his honest assessment of Notts County's heavy 4-0 defeat to FC Kaiserslautern in the second game of their preseason Germany trip.
The Magpies conceded three goals inside the first ten minutes of the game, and summer signing Barry Cotter was sent off later on in the first half for a poor challenge as the hosts rubbed salt in the wounds with a fourth goal in the second half.
Results, either way, are not the most important thing during preseason, but the manner in which his side went down was not pleasing for Paterson, who is trying to implement his ideas early in his tenure at the club. He said: "It's important for me to be really transparent and honest. The start we made to the game was unacceptable and verging on unprofessional.
"I don't say that to beat the players with a stick - but we had a fantastic set of supporters behind us today, creating a jovial atmosphere, having spent a lot of money to be here, only to see us be out of the game within the first 10 minutes.
