MAN WITH AUTISM FEELS JOBCENTRE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST HIM
A MAN with autism and ADHD says he felt discriminated against at a Nottingham Jobcentre after they wouldn't let him enter with his assistance dog.
Adrian Gilbert was turned away after trying to enter the employment advise centre in Lower Parliament Street with his dog, Shadow, on June 4.
The 35-year-old, from Sherwood, was struggling to access his benefits and needed to enter the Jobcentre to update his details, but says he was unable to do this as he was turned away by an employee upon entering the building.
This is because his dog is an English mastiff - a giant breed that can weigh up to 230lb. But Adrian insists he should have been allowed to enter with his dog, which supports him in public spaces.
"The security guard was fine - he looked at my assistance card and let me in," Adrian said.
