Care home resident's request for help went unheeded

A CARE home resident waited 42 minutes to be seen by a member of staff after calling for help, the health watchdog has found.

The observation was made by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) during an inspection of Radcliffe Manor House, in Radcliffe on Trent.

The home has been put into special measures having moved from a “requires improvement” to an “inadequate” rating after the visit in June, with the regulator stating its 26 residents were “not always safe and there was limited assurance about safety”.

Inspectors also saw heavy wardrobes not being properly fitted in rooms, meaning they could potentially tip over and injure residents.

The charitable trust which runs the home has issued an apology and said it has already made improvements based on the CQC's findings.
