£1.69m to cathedral a makeover give

THE transformation of a historic Nottingham landmark has been boosted by a £1.69 million lottery grant.

St Barnabas' Cathedral - also known as Nottingham Cathedral will be returned to its original 19th-century design after being granted funding by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The Grade II*-listed building was designed by Augustus Pugin - who also worked on the Houses of Parliament - in 1841 in the Victorian Gothic Revival style.
The Diocese of Nottingham says £2.3 million will be spent to realise the Restoring Pugin Project to return the building to its original "stunning" look.
