Crosby blasts 'soft' Rovers

ANDY Crosby questioned his players' character in the aftermath of Tranmere's 3-1 loss to Oldham Athletic, labelling them a "soft group".

Defeat at Boundary Park leaves Rovers nine points adrift of the playoff places, and the 52-year-old says his side need to toughen up.

He said: "We're soft. When things start to go against us, we collapse. I think we were the dominant team today, but during the moments when you have to stick together, we're being found wanting on too many occasions.

"We lack on-pitch leadership. We lack on-pitch demands of each other. If you want to be successful, you don't always get on. You have to argue and fall out, but we don't demand high enough standards of each other.

"Different players have had different opportunities this season for a variety of reasons. And if I was to assess the group after 21 games and say who's having a good season, I wouldn't have to think too much."
