'No choice' but to allow 135 homes in village

SCHEME WILL ADD TO THE 239 NOW BEING BUILT

PLANNING committee members say they were left with no option but to approve plans for 135 homes.
Richborough Estates said the scheme for Brascote Lane, Newbold Verdon, was phase two of a development, phase one of which is seeing 239 homes now under construction.
The initial phase was refused permission in 2023, but granted on appeal.
The land was then sold to builder Persimmon.
Despite 51 objections to the latest application, councillors said if they refused the scheme, “we would lose it at appeal”.
Councillor Mark Bools, who lives in the village, said: “This is one of those sites where everything in your body just wants to push it back.
