Increasing council tax levies and rising energy costs - soaring water bills have poured on the pressure on households across the country.
According to Water UK, the average UK water bill rose to £603, an increase of £123 - or 26 percent - this year. The rise equates to £10 more per month.
In some single-occupied households in Yorkshire, residents pay more than £105 per month, bringing their annual bill, paid in 10-monthly instalments, to more than £1,050.
Here's a breakdown: Factors affecting bills: water bills are not uniform across the UK as prices vary depending on the water company and location.
Why the increase: water companies cite the need for investments in aging infrastructure and reducing sewage discharges as reasons for the price increases.
One way to avoid paying too much for water use is to get a meter fitted.
