Fans hoping for an era of glory after chief's departure
TOTTENHAM fans have heralded Daniel Levy's departure as the chance for a new era of success.
One supporters' group said the news had "shocked and thrilled" in equal measure after Levy had been at the helm for 25 years.
He announced on Thursday that he was standing down as executive chairman and it has since emerged the move has been orchestrated by the Lewis family which controls ownership of the club.
Spurs have won just two trophies in the last 25 years - the second was the Europa League in May - but Levy has overseen the building of the club's £1billion stadium.
Spurs fans staged protests against Levy last season and have regularly accused the club of a lack of ambition in the transfer market, despite the fact they have been the fourth biggest net spenders in the Premier League in the last five years.
