LET'S STICK TOGETHER... NOT STICK 'EM UP

THE Government has appealed for a cease-fire in the Dail speaking row today as US President Donald Trump prepares to announce tariffs with "grave, serious con-sequences" on Liberation Day tomorrow.

Ministers will receive a stark warning from Tanaiste and Trade Minister Simon Harris this morning as the Cabinet meeting will be told a blanket 20% tariff could impact 32% of all Irish exports which go to the 03.

The caution will come just several hours before Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy faces an unprecedented confidence motion.

Mr Harris will bring a memo to Cabinet this morning detailing the potential economic impact for Ireland ahead of the expected decision by the US to introduce tariffs on European Union coun-tries from as early as tomorrow.

He is expected to tell colleagues Ireland must adopt a "calm and measured" approach in the coming days, emphasising the importance of showing "solidarity and unity" with the EU.

Government sources told The Star last night the EU is operating on the basis that a 20% blanket tariff will be initially applied to all EU countries by the Trump administration.
