MASON MELIA ended a wait of six games for a league goal as his first-half strike set St Pat's Athletic on course for a league win over Waterford at the RSC yesterday.

The Tottenham-bound striker timed his run to perfection to finish a through ball from Kian Leavy, and after Pat's missed a host of chances to extend their lead, it was substitute Conor Carty who sealed the victory six minutes from time.

From the outset, Waterford looked hesitant in defence with Melia unlucky not to convert a Leavy delivery inside five minutes.
