Supports for workers at scene of girl's murder

Brave paramedics and gardai were first to arrive Probe focus on suspect father who took own life

BRAVE paramedics and gardai who attended the scene of a murder-suicide are being offered support and time off work.

Emergency services who were first to arrive at the house in Heathfield Terrace, Finglas, north Dublin, this week are being assisted in coming to terms with the horror they witnessed.

Sources said Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics have been given the opportunity to meet with fellow officers trained in critical incident stress management.

Similar support is also being offered to the gardai who entered the home and discovered suspected murderer Kryzystof Daczkowski, 50, and his five-year-old daughter Julia dead.

Part of that process involves being offered time off and mental health support, and comes as gardai have been given the resources of a murder investigation following postmortem examinations on both father and daughter.
