It's a double century on the same day for Scottish world war heroes

An Edinburgh Second World War veteran is celebrating a shared history, a shared regiment and a milestone birthday with a fellow soldier he has never met.

George McLeod and Douglas Baldwin both turned 100 on Monday, more than 80 years after they fought together with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers.

While each played their part in the decisive campaign to liberate Northern Europe, the pair served in different battalions and their paths never crossed.
