Trump uses eve of arrest interview to eclipse TV debate by his rivals

DONALD Trump used his imminent arrest to draw attention from the Republicans' first election debate.
As the former US President prepared to hand himself in to authorities in Georgia, eight of his leadership rivals appeared in Wisconsin to make their case for the White House.
While they attacked each other, Trump made his point on X, formerly known as Twitter, with conservative TV star Tucker Carlson.
The streaming of the interview gained more than 154 million views, during which the former US leader branded his nearest rival, Ron DeSantis, "a lost cause".
During the chat, Trump suggested the States could see greater political violence, saying tensions in America were reaching a boiling point.
