Metro depot now arriving as site gets grand opening

A HUGE depot, which will house brand new tram-trains operating across parts of South Wales, has opened.

The £100m South Wales Metro Depot at Taff's Well, which is bringing 400 jobs, will house a fleet of 36 tram-trains and "transform transport across South Wales", according to Transport for Wales (TfW).
The tram-trains are expected to be introduced next year.
First Minister Eluned Morgan and TfW CEO James Price attended a grand opening of the site on Friday, November 14.
The Metro, one of Wales’ biggest infrastructure projects, brought electrified rail services to South Wales for the first time last year.
The first new electric-powered trains were introduced on the Merthyr, Aberdare and Rhymney Lines into Cardiff in 2024.
