(NICOLA CRUMP)

Nicola Crump and Zac Howells, from Ebbw Vale, had been on their way to Birmingham's Christmas market on December 20, when Nicola suddenly felt really hot and passed out behind the wheel.

As she did so, she hit the accelerator with her foot - but luckily for her, Zac’s quick thinking ensured the car jolted to a stop in the central reservation of the A40, avoiding a potentially very serious collision.

“He really is my little hero,’ reflected Nicola.

Nicola had originally planned to go to the markets with a friend but when her friend fell ill, she decided she would go by herself, hoping to get some last-minute Christmas presents.

However, after being persuaded by her son, she decided to take him along with her and she'll forever be grateful she did.
