Trams' bid for place in final of the play-offs is derailed by shoot-out

CROYDON saw their hopes of promotion cruelly dashed as they were beaten after a penalty shoot-out in the Southern Counties East First Division play-off semi-final at Forest Hill Park.

And while their semi-final, which ended goalless, wasn’t a free-flowing affair, it crackled with tension throughout with both sides knowing what was at stake.

Forest Hill, it must be remembered, were hammered at The Arena at the beginning of November when they found out that their team wasn’t as good as they had thought before enticing the Trams team and management to decamp.

It is not altogether surprising that their results took off, while Croydon's nosedived and Trams had a two month spell of going south.
