Event raises £2144 for air ambulance and riding group

- STAFF REPORTER

A tremendous £2144 was raised for two local good causes this year at the 17th Rattray Arts Festival, during what was described by organisers as another great event.

The popular EVENT, which is part of the wider 'It's BRAW!' festival, celebrates the talent and skills of amateur and professional artists-including this year's featured artist, Rhona Kirkpatrick.

And the exhibition took place over nine days in Blairgowrie Town Hall and was visited by some 400 people.

Hundreds of original paintings, prints and gift items were on display, and each year 20 per cent of sales made during the event - as well as the proceeds of a raffle to win a painting by artist David Mackenzie - are generously donated by the artists to support worthwhile local causes.

This year's chosen charities were Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) and the Blairgowrie branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association and cheques for £1072 were recently presented to representatives from both.

Mike Beale from SCAA thanked the team behind the Rattray Arts Festival and It's BRAW! for the donation.
