LOCALS BLAME RISE IN HMOS FOR SHARP SLIDE IN HOME VALUATIONS

A LEAFY street filled with large homes and spacious gardens saw house prices fall more sharply than anywhere else in Birmingham in the past 12 months.

In 2024, the average house price was £350,000 in the Rotton Park area of Edgabston, north of Hagley Road.

But that dropped to £241,000 in 2025 - a decrease of 31.1%.

Residents blame the influx of landlords turning once grand houses into HMOs (home in multiple occupation), which have brought a host of social problems.
