Scam workers flee Myawaddy
Bangkok Post
|October 25, 2025
More than 1,500 people from 21 countries have fled KK Park, a scam centre in Myawaddy, in Myanmar's Kayin State, and entered Tak province over the past two days.
The exodus of foreign workers follows a raid by the Myanmar military on KK Park, known as one of Southeast Asia's largest scam centres.
Those who fled the compound have crossed the Moei River into Thailand over the past couple of days.
A further 2,000 foreign workers fleeing the notorious scam centre were expected to cross into Thailand yesterday alone.
The operation, labelled by some observers as an attempt to appease China by the Myanmar military ahead of the upcoming Asean Summit, led to reports of explosions and fires in parts of KK Park.
