One year of Saini Govt. marked by holistic and inclusive governance, social welfare

75 percent of promises kept and worked upon in one-fifth of tenure

Completion of one year in office---which constitutes one-fifth of the tenure of any democratically elected government---is time for stocktaking, as well as for resolve-making.

It is time for the government to look over the shoulders to appraise what all has been done, and draw a roadmap for the remainder of the term. More often than not, the manifesto of the party in power serves as a ready gauge for measuring the performance.

Going by this yardstick, the Nayab Singh Saini Government, which completed one year in office on October 17, 2025, can draw a deep breath of satisfaction. In the first 12 months, it has not only succeeded in fulfilling 46 out of the 217 promises made to the people in the run-up to the 2024 Assembly elections, but also initiated action on others. The arch of these covers such departments as involve public dealing, farmers and social welfare.

Unlike other politicians who treat promises like eggs to be broken, the rooted-in-the-soil Chief Minister is pressing all levers to ensure that the remaining too are fulfilled soon. Endowed with a bipolar vision that enables him to shift focus from a macro view of any scheme to its microscopic details, Mr Saini stretches every sinew with sweaty intensity to push the ball of performance past the achievement goal. Given not to sit out a challenge but to seize the narrative, his template admits of no deceleration; no lag in impetus; and no shackling of impulses.
