Over the past decade, Haryana has transformed its power sector, progressing from universal household electrification to becoming a leader in sustainable energy. Two key players—Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPNL) and Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL)—have been instrumental in lighting up cities and villages alike while preparing for a clean energy future.

In 2014–15, the state had about 54.91 lakh electricity consumers. By June 2025, this number had grown significantly to 82.39 lakh, highlighting the expansion of energy access across Haryana. Even low-income households consuming up to 100 units per month, now receive electricity at highly subsidised rates, demonstrating the government’s commitment to make power affordable to all.

Support For Farmers And Safer Power Infrastructure

In order to ease the burden on farmers, the government has waived charges for stolen or damaged transformers. The HVPNL has undertaken a major safety initiative by relocating overhead power lines passing over homes, schools, and water bodies. Out of 3,151 such hazardous lines, 3,144 have already been shifted. Over ₹151 crore has been invested in this public safety project.
