Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Diplomatist
|September 2022
India as a founding member of the UN has vehemently advocated the principles and objectives of the UN and has made noteworthy contributions to enforcing the objectives of the Charter, and the development of the specialized agencies and programmes of the UN.
The United Nations (UN) is the most symbolic inter-governmental organization presently, its function in world aff airs is irreplaceable by any other regional or International organization (IO). The organization has made immense positive contributions to enabling cooperation among states and international development besides upholding global security and peace. As an IO its noted goals include promoting partnership in social progress, economic development, international law, human rights, international security and accomplishment of global stability and peace. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) set up under the UN Charter is responsible for the maintenance of global peace and security of the nations. It has a distinctive responsibility and decision-making power being one of the six paramount organs of the UN.
The most important areas of the UNSC led in terms of global security and peace following the Cold War and the beginning of the millennium were terrorism, human rights and humanitarian infringements, environmental issues and an upsurge of weapons of mass destruction. The UNSC has been passed to solve conflicts, support peace processes, and respond to unlawful uses of force and implement sanctions in cases where harmony and security are endangered. In 2010 the UNSC likewise held a summit meeting on the upkeep of global peace and security, which is the immediate responsibility of the Council. The UN's dynamic existence in the world through its numerous missions has aided in resolving disputes, averting disputes from escalating, and fostering stability and peace in certain circumstances, while the issues such as the Syrian conflict, etc. has continued to attract criticism.

Message
Across societies and cultures, the stories of women have always been powerful sources of resilience, creativity and transformation. Yet for much of history, many of these stories remained largely within families and communities rather than in public spaces where they could inspire wider change.
