From ad films to web series & commercial cinema, how was your journey so far?

My journey has been extremely wonderful. Starting off with advertising for many years helped me develop my skills for finesse and style. Working with multiple looks, directors, scripts and lighting styles every other day helped me to be prepared for various situations. With the want for advertising finesse in OTT, it was a beautiful transition into the long format!

As a DOP, it’s always important to have a balance between shooting ads as well as films. Having a foot in each format always helps.

image“Call Me Bae” is full of colours & originality, what was your first impression after reading the script? How did you envision it?

Reading a script is like reading a book, you need to let your imagination take over the visual as you read the words on the page, having an understanding of what is expected from the story and how you want to translate those visuals onto screen is important. Referencing, creating mood boards and having conversations with the director is super important! You then take those ideas and create a graph and connect it with the character’s mood, emotion and journey!
