Dr. Chris Bai on BenQ's Cutting-Edge Colour Management and New Professional Monitors

Dr. Chris Bai, Senior Colour Expert at BenQ and Vice Chair of the ICC, discusses the company's advancements in colour management and new monitor offerings. He highlights the capabilities of BenQ's Colour Technology Lab, which demonstrates precise colour matching across devices like monitors, projectors, and cameras. BenQ has introduced two new monitors: the PD2730S for film professionals with 5K resolution and high contrast, and the PD3226G for game developers and VFX artists, combining high refresh rate, colour accuracy, and resolution. In an exclusive interview, Chris emphasizes BenQ's proprietary calibration software for consistent colour across multiple displays, the use of nano texture coating to reduce glare, and the growing Indian market's potential for creative professionals. Bai also underscores the importance of colour-accurate monitors in AI-driven workflows and BenQ's vision for a fully calibrated display ecosystem to streamline creative processes.

Can you describe the lab at your headquarters and what it demonstrates?

Our headquarters houses a dedicated lab that showcases complete colour management solutions. It features self-proofing demonstrations, where projectors and monitors are calibrated to perfectly match each other. We also have a camera studio setup that demonstrates how the colours captured by the camera match the colours displayed on the monitor and the actual scene. This is crucial for archiving and ensuring colour consistency across different devices and stages of production.

What new monitor products are you introducing?
