Naomi Watts on why women's stories are finally being told

HOLLYWOOD'S NEW CHAPTER

Naomi Watts has long been celebrated for her portrayal of women’s stories. And in her latest role, in the legal drama All’s Fair, she depicts a fierce, brilliant divorce lawyer in an all-female firm.

Naomi joins a starry cast including Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Kim Kardashian and Teyana Taylor in the Disney+ TV show, which was co-created by Ryan Murphy, the writer and director behind Nip/Tuck, Glee and American Horror Story.

Naomi, 57, was born in Shoreham, Kent, and grew up in Australia. The Academy Award-nominated actress has played Diana, Princess of Wales and won plaudits for her roles in Birdman and Mulholland Drive.

She lives in the US with her husband, The Morning Show's Billy Crudup, also 57, and has two children - son Sasha, 18, and daughter Kai, 17 - with her former partner, the actor Liev Schreiber.

HOLLYWOOD LADIES

It’s only now, she says, that Hollywood is recognising the value of telling the stories of older women.

“There are still a lot of things that need to be addressed around ageism, but it’s something the film industry is at least looking at,” she says, reflecting on her book Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I'd Known About Menopause, which was published a year ago.
