Ghana has taken a crucial first step to protect its banana crop from the threat of Fusarium wilt tropical race 4 (TR4), according to an article by FreshPlaza.com.

Banana is an important crop for the West African country, with Ghana exporting around 75 000t of bananas to the EU in 2023.
This generated US$52,47 million (around R921 million) in revenue.
Ghana's primary markets in the EU are France, the UK and Italy, the media outlet reported.
