The artisan’s touch is seen around this home, from the polished plaster walls to sandblasted timber elements.

Treading Lightly

Chelsea Hing was careful to ensure her design choices complemented the surrounding landscape of this Yarra Valley home. How did you become involved with this project and what was the brief? The owners had built the house only seven years prior to engaging us to update it. They were already suffering the growing pains of not having enough space for their three boys and extended family. Initially the brief was to redress the functional limitations of the space, but this soon grew into a complete overhaul of the entire house. How would you describe the completed home and what are some of your favourite design elements? We describe the house as a great Aussie beauty. It took four years to design and build with Overend Constructions, who were fantastic. It was a complete labour of love from start to finish and the hand of the artisan is seen everywhere throughout this project. A favourite element would have to be the walls and ceilings in polished plaster which adds a lovely light play to the house.
