*Fuel Scarcity Hits Abuja and Lagos: NNPC Cites 'Hitch' in Vessel Discharge Operations*

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has attributed the ongoing petrol scarcity in Lagos and Abuja to a technical hitch in the discharge operations of vessels delivering petrol to filling stations in these regions.

According to NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, the hitch disrupted normal operations, leading to the current fuel shortage. However, the company is working with stakeholders to resolve the issues and restore normalcy.

The fuel scarcity has led to the closure of filling stations in Abuja, Lagos, Niger, Nasarawa, and Kogi states, causing concerns among oil marketers and consumers. Despite the removal of fuel subsidies, Nigeria continues to experience periodic fuel scarcity, undermining expectations of a stable fuel supply.

This is the third instance of fuel scarcity in 2024, highlighting the persistent volatility in the country's fuel market. The recurrent issue has caused significant inconvenience to consumers and raised concerns about the underlying factors contributing to these disruptions.
