Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corporation (NTT) of Japan acquired 35% of Sri Lanka Telecom in the recent divestiture of Sri Lanka Government shares in Sri Lanka Telecom (making) their US$225 million investment the single largest the country has seen so far. Hideaki Kamitsuma, the new CEO of SLT said, "I would like to send my staff a message, i.e., to be confident that we are in a position to meet the public demand for telephones, to be open to their criticisms, and complaints because we can meet them.
